At the time of his/her appointment or election to office, each member of the Montgomery County School Board must be a qualified voter, a resident of the Montgomery County school division (from the district that he/she represents), and meet any other criteria set forth in Virginia law. If a School Board member shall cease to be a resident of the school division or that district which the School Board member represents, the position on the School Board shall be deemed vacant.
None of the officers listed in the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, § 22.1-30 shall serve as a member of the Montgomery County School Board, unless an exception provided in that section applies. No employee of the Montgomery County School Board shall be eligible to serve on the Montgomery County School Board.
